BSRO presents Driving Great Futures awards to two Boys & Girls Clubs at regional leadership conference
On February 20, Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) representatives Bruce Morgan, Division Vice President, Southeast, and Lisa Sanders, HR Business Partner, Atlanta Region, presented Driving Great Futures awards to two Boys & Girls Clubs. The presentations were made during the annual Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Southeast Leadership Conference in Daytona, Florida, with 450 Boys & Girls Club leaders in attendance.
The awards were given to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lynchburg in Virginia and the Boys & Girls Clubs of York County in South Carolina. Each was honored for having achieved significant year-over-year increases in club participation as measured by average daily attendance. The York County Clubs increased attendance by 123 percent and the Greater Lynchburg Clubs, by 64 percent.
Bruce and Lisa were proud to represent BSRO at the event and were moved as they listened to first-hand accounts of youth whose lives have been positively impacted by their membership in these clubs. Bruce first interacted with a Boys & Girls club more than four years ago in Ft. Lauderdale and he encourages store, area and region leaders to continue developing these relationships at the local level.
"It's so much more rewarding to give back than it is to receive," said Bruce. "It was inspiring to hear the BGCA president and CEO, Jim Clark, speak about the impact that these Clubs―and we, as their partners―are having on so many young lives. BGCA changes lives and creates amazing leaders―servant leaders of character and integrity, leaders passionate about making the world a better place."
BGCA provides high-impact out-of-school programs to ensure success is within reach of every young person who enters the Club doors. Aligning with the People priority area of Our Way to Serve, BSRO store employees have raised more than $6.6 million for BGCA through the Driving Great Futures program since 2015.
