Bridgestone Costa Rica collects 101 tons of waste tires in annual Llantatón campaign

Br​idgestone Costa Rica (BSCR) recently collected 4,500 used tires, totaling 101 tons, through their annual waste tire collection campaign, Llantatón. Twenty BSCR employee volunteers worked closely with nine municipalities, Fundellantas and an authorized distributor of BSCR, Quirós & Co., to recycle waste tires at specific collection centers.

"Bridgestone Costa Rica believes in a sustainable business model, incorporating environmental, social and economic practices with a focus on the product life cycle from tire manufacturing, selection of raw materials, optimization of the production process and proper disposal of the post-consumer product. It is in this last stage where the Llantatón initiative represents our efforts to promote a sustainable society," said Leoncio Rojas, Environmental Manager of BSCR.

Llantatón is an initiative in response to our refined global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment. Through this environmental campaign, BSCR exemplifies Our Way to Serve by seeking to reduce CO2 emissions, minimize environmental problems as well as raise awareness among different communities about the prevention of breeding sites for Dengue, Zika and chicungunya.
