Bridgestone family teams up to give finance teammate new service dog

Since Cody Joss joined the Bridgestone finance team, he has always had a four-legged friend co-worker with him who all of his teammates loved and adored – his service dog, Wrigley. Sadly, earlier this year, Wrigley passed away after working alongside Cody for 10 years.

Cody was not only saddened by the loss of his friend, but he also was anxious about his ability to afford a new service dog who could help him with all of his day-to-day tasks.

Each teammate who knew Wrigley missed him deeply and immediately jumped into action to help Cody get a new furry friend. Sandra Rutherford, Senior Executive Assistant, worked directly with Cody’s sister to organize a fundraising effort throughout the entire Bridgestone office.

Cody was shocked and thrilled at a surprise celebration to learn his teammates had raised $18,000 and Bridgestone added even more to ensure he could get a new service dog who could completely take care of all his needs. 

“It was a roller coaster, to say the least,” said Cody. “I’m sad about Wrigley, but then I get this wonderful news about this new dog. It was amazing.”
