Bridgestone Named World’s Largest Tire Company for Eighth Straight Year

Company earns top spot in Tire Business rankings, with $24 billion in global tire-related sales in 2015

Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) was named the world’s largest tire company for the eighth straight year in this year’s rankings from Tire Business, an Akron, Ohio-based trade publication. The company achieved 2015 tire-related sales of $24 billion, ahead of Group Michelin ($22.1 billion) and Goodyear Tire ($14.8 billion) according to earnings reports published by each company.

The rankings are based on sales of tires manufactured by the companies, and do not include sales of steel cord, synthetic rubber, carbon black or any other non-tire items.

According to Tire Business, the top four companies are ranked as follows:

1.    Bridgestone Corp.: $24,045 million

2.    Group Michelin: $22,130 million

3.    Goodyear Tire: $14,800 million

4.    Continental A.G.: $10,780 million
