Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire and rubber company, as well as its sister company, Bandag, obtained the Socially Responsible Company (CSR) badge for the twelth and fifth time respectively, consolidating as the companies that set the standard in terms of corporate social responsibility within its sector.

Awards were delivered by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility (AliaRSE) in the framework of the XI Latin American Forum of Social Responsibility (ESR), held in Mexico City from May 14-16. These acknowledgments are the voluntary and public effort to implement a socially responsible management and continuous improvement, as part of its culture and business strategy.

"At Bridgestone we understand social responsibility as the alignment between our business strategy and the needs and interests of the communities in which we operate; for this reason, it is gratifying to know that for more than 12 years our service to society with superior quality has been worthy of this distinction”, said Alfonso Zendejas, President and Managing Director of Bridgestone Latin America North, upon receiving the award.

For its part, Bandag, leading company in the truck-tire retread, was recognized for the fifth consecutive year with the ESR badge, thanks to its commitment to the community and the environment, as well as to the implementation of policies and specific procedures; information sessions and orientation to universities; volunteer and donation programs with local organizations.

"For all of us who are part of Bandag, it is a pride to belong to a socially responsible organization that respects natural resources and contributes to the development of sustainable communities and, at the same time, motivates us to maintain our commitment to implement actions that generate a social impact positive," said Manuel Calzada, Managing Director of Bandag Mexico, who received the award.

Bridgestone recently launched its new global corporate social responsibility commitment entitled "Our Way to Serve," to globally align the company's actions in three Priority Areas: Mobility, People and the Environment; as well as six Management Principles: Regulatory Compliance and Fair Competition, Business Continuity and Risk Management, Human Rights and Labor Practices, Purchasing and Quality, Industrial Safety and Hygiene and Value for the Customer.
