Here at Bridgestone Americas, we take the safety of our employees very seriously. In the event of severe weather such as tornadoes, Bridgestone Tower, the Bridgestone Operations Center, and our Middle Tennessee facilities have formalized plans to take shelter at any time or evacuate the building if need be. With storm season upon us, being prepared with severe weather best practices is more important than ever.
On February 27, Nashville's News Channel 2 (WKRN) Meteorologist Davis Nolan profiled Bridgestone Tower and the Bridgestone Operations Center as being "Storm Ready," a designation from the National Weather Service. Chuck Tarver, Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager, Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM), shared that Bridgestone has emergency response plans of action in place, as well as glow-in-the-dark directional signage and designated safe zones in stairwells and restrooms, making us well-equipped to handle any severe weather that may impact Middle Tennessee.
This emergency preparedness played a critical part in employees' safety in February 2011 when our Lebanon tire distribution warehouse took a direct hit from an EF-2 tornado with high winds, ripping apart a portion of the building. It is this reason we have such critical action plans in place in the event of severe weather: for the safety and security of our employees.
