BNextGen supports 2019 Tree Day

On March 23, more than a dozen Bridgestone teammates spent their Saturday morning planting trees with the Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC). The event was just one of many Tree Day events across the state as part of TEC’s goal to plant 250,000 trees in one day.

Bridgestone Americas was a key sponsor for the state-wide event. In Nashville, the local event was organized by the BNextGen Employee Resource Group (ERG) which focuses on helping to support the next generation of teammates at Bridgestone. For their contribution, BNextGen set a goal of 1,500 planted trees.

“Attending this event made me realize how important trees are to our local environment,” said Norman McClain, Senior Representative for Corporate Account Sales, and BNextGen member. “Not only did I help in planting 1,500 trees, I also learned some interesting facts about the trees we planted and the positive role they have in the environment.”

Tree Day, and the 250,000 tree goal, was created by TEC as a way to, over time, create more than five acres of new tree canopy across the state of Tennessee. This effort will lead to an additional removal of up to 20 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere, preventing 1 million gallons of unfiltered runoff into local rivers and streams.
