North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Recognizes Firestone Fibers & Textiles’ Gastonia Plant for Outstanding Leadership in Environmental Performance

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (Bridgestone) celebrated the recognition of its Firestone Fibers & Textiles Plant in Gastonia, North Carolina, as an Environmental Steward by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The Environmental Steward is the highest level of achievement in the Environmental Stewardship Initiative led by the DEQ.
DEQ Secretary Michael Regan presented the prestigious Environmental Steward award during a ceremony at the Gastonia plant on November 16.
The plant, which employs more than 45 people, received this recognition for demonstrating a record of excellent environmental performance and pledging to continue that commitment in years to come. The DEQ took note of the Gastonia plant’s zero waste to landfill efforts.

Since 1935, Firestone Fibers & Textiles has manufactured standard industry items and unique proprietary materials for specialized applications and has developed many proprietary processes and unique procedures that contribute to the quality of its fibers and fabrics. It operates ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 registered plants in Gastonia and Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
