Bridgestone Celebrates Olympic Day and Raises Awareness on Road Safety
Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire company and a Worldwide Olympic Partner, is pledging its support to the Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, the most sustainable games in history, with the aim of supporting and contributing to sports, education and the community.
In this line, on 1st of July, the company will join the Organizing Committee of the Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 to celebrate Olympic Day with a free event with the objective of promoting sport, culture, education and Olympic values: friendship, respect and excellence. It will be held in 3 de Febrero Park from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be aimed at families, young people from different clubs and federations to enjoy a day full of sports, music and fun. For this occasion, Bridgestone Argentina will present the Car Crash Simulator Experience, where people can feel the consequences of a car crash at 15 km per hour, thus raising awareness about road safety.
Bridgestone values go hand in hand with sportsmanship of the Olympic Movement, and the company is excited to help carry the Olympic spirit throughout the world: “This alliance started in 2014 with Bridgestone becoming a Worldwide Olympic Partner, and encompasses the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the Olympic Winter Games Pyeongchang 2018, the Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and the Olympic Games 2024,” said Rodrigo Escudero, Executive Manager for Marketing and Communications, Bridgestone Argentina. “We accepted the challenge because we share the Olympic spirit and foster teamwork, dedication, learning and much more.”
Like Bridgestone, the Youth Olympic Games seek to establish a sustainable legacy in the city of Buenos Aires and in Argentina, with the sporting experience serving as the perfect platform to do so. To reach this goal, the efforts start from the organization of the event, including measuring and minimizing the carbon footprint, building an intelligent Olympic Village, creating a sustainable value chain, achieving energy efficiency, driving recycling initiatives and creating programs for education and sports initiation.
Moreover, the Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018—expected to be the most sustainable in history—draw from the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on quality education, gender equality, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy and sustainable communities, among others. The goals set by the United Nations also help guide Bridgestone’s efforts, working together with other world leaders to protect the planet and ensure prosperity for every individual.
Bridgestone continues to work alongside the Olympic Movement to drive common efforts for raising awareness about environmental best practices, the importance of different forms of education and the sustainable development of the community.
