Firestone Building Products Facility Operates One Million Man-Hours Without Lost-Time Accident

Prescott, Arkansas, facility reaches safety milestone for sixth time in eleven years

Firestone Building Products Company, LLC (Firestone) announced today that its Prescott manufacturing facility has reached the milestone of working one million man-hours without an injury involving days away from work. This is the sixth time in the past 11 years the Prescott plant has reached this safety milestone.

“Across Firestone safety is always the number one priority,” said Tony Seagraves, Prescott plant manager, Firestone Building Products. “Our team members look out for each other to ensure we all return home safely every day. I’m so proud of everyone’s commitment to creating a safe workplace and achieving this significant milestone.”

In 2012, the Prescott plant received a Million Work Hour Award from the Arkansas Department of Labor. The award is presented to plants that complete one million work hours without a lost day away from work. During the same year, the plant also completed a $36 million expansion project, adding 52,500 square feet to the facility and 100 new jobs. The expansion increased capacity to make the plant the largest EPDM manufacturing facility in the world.

Firestone has an established safety and health program that includes training, evaluation of basic systems, internal audits and continuous improvement. Daily, monthly and quarterly meetings focus on workplace safety. Teammates are fully engaged in the safety process, and there is active, visible involvement of all levels of management.
