Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (Bridgestone) today announced that public voting is underway to determine the winner of the company’s Fuel the Drive contest. Created in partnership with the National Football League (NFL) initiative NFL PLAY 60, the contest will provide a $25,000 (USD) grant to help fund a new or existing, K-12 school-based athletic program or wellness initiative.
“Fuel the Drive is an ideal way for Bridgestone to work with the NFL to bring awareness to important school health and wellness programs in need of funding,” said Amber Holm, Vice President, Brand Marketing, U.S. and Canada, Consumer Replacement Tire, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. “Bridgestone is the world’s largest tire and rubber company, and we believe it is our responsibility to make a positive and lasting impact on the communities where we operate.”
In September, Bridgestone started accepting nominations for initiatives at elementary, middle and high schools in the U.S., and a panel of judges identified the top 10 programs as contest finalists. It is now up to the voting public to determine the grand prize winner.
To vote, the public can visit the Bridgestone Fuel the Drive contest’s online portal. Consumers can vote for their favorite community project once each day between now and Dec. 14, 2015. Winners will be announced in January 2016.
The prizes include:
- One grand prize winner will earn a $25,000 (USD) grant on behalf of the nominated school to maintain, support, enhance or expand their submitted program. An NFL PLAY 60 in a Box kit also will be awarded to the grand prize winner. This kit includes a range of equipment to increase physical activity options for students.
- Two runners-up will be awarded prizes, which include a $5,000 (USD) grant for each program, as well as an NFL PLAY 60 in a Box kit for both designated schools.
- All 10 finalists will be awarded a set of Bridgestone tires and an Xbox 360 console for the school’s use.
