At a press conference featuring Tiger Woods, Bridgestone and the America’s Golf Cup, supported by the Government of Mexico City, announced the start of the most important golf tournament in Latin America.

Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire and rubber company, along with the America’s Golf Cup and the Government of Mexico City, have announced the start of the Bridgestone America's Golf Cup presented by Value. Tiger Woods, one of the most decorated golfers of all time, was on hand to celebrate the beginning of the 2015 tournament week. The Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup is the leading golf tournament in Latin America, and features the participation of Bridgestone Golf ambassador and top professional Matt Kuchar representing the United States. Tournament play will take place from Oct. 22-25 at the Campestre Club.

“The Bridgestone America's Golf Cup is the premier golf event in the region with the participation of some of the best players in the world. The Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup attracts elite golfers and a high level of competition to the region, and provides a wonderful opportunity for markets across Latin America to learn more about the Bridgestone product portfolio, which ranges from consumer and commercial tires to golf accessories, building products and other sporting goods.

Matt Kuchar, the winner of last week’s Fiji International and one of the Top 15 players in the world, will use Bridgestone Golf equipment throughout the week and has been an ambassador for the brand for more than a decade. This speaks to the Bridgestone Golf’s strong position as a supplier of premium golf products providing players with exceptional performance on the course.

”It is an honor to be in Mexico City. I have visited Mexico before, but it's my first time in this city,” said Woods, winner of 14 majors and 79 PGA TOUR titles. “It's a shame I cannot play this year, but I hope to be fit for 2016. I really want to encourage the growth of golf in Latin America, and I am excited to support this event.

After the press conference, Woods and Kuchar were joined by Mexican player Lorena Ochoa at a golf clinic held at the historic Bosque de Chapultepec in Mexico City.

Through its sponsorship of the America's Cup Golf, Bridgestone strengthens its commitment to prestigious sporting events worldwide. During tournament week, Bridgestone’s golf division will be present with an exhibition booth and golf product for sale. Bridgestone will also host the Bridgestone Golf Ball Fitting Challenge on site in order to help golf enthusiasts find the golf ball that best meets their specific needs.

Bridgestone America's Golf Cup presented by Value features two-man teams playing Four-Ball (Best-Ball) over 72 holes. The 2015 event will host 30 teams (60 players) representing 19 countries in competition. The event is among the most prestigious tournaments in Latin America, is part of the 2015 PGA TOUR Latinoamerica calendar and awards prize money totaling $300,000 US dollars, one of the largest golf tournament purses in the region.
