The 2014 Copa Bridgestone Libertadores marks the 55th edition of the South America's premier international soccer club tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament will run with the participation of teams from eleven countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

“To CONMEBOL, it is a matter of satisfaction to have the contribution of Bridgestone as a first line sponsor in our beloved Copa Libertadores,” said Eugenio Figueredo, President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). “We are aware of the fact that the development of soccer in South America has a close link with our sponsors, who rely on a product of superior quality.”

“The passion for soccer – and a good performance – that unites fans across Latin America is one we share in Bridgestone and resembles the benefits of our leading products,” said Matias Borges, Consumer Sales and Marketing Director for Bridgestone Latin America.  “It is the performance moments of Libertadores soccer and the exciting 2014 championship kick-off that is inspiring the start of new promotional programs across Latin America.”

Through its title sponsorship agreement in the Copa Bridgestone Libertadores, Bridgestone is reinforcing its commitment to sports and renowned events at an international level, which unite fans from different countries, no matter distance or language.

Bridgestone has developed a variety of commercial and promotional activities in the region, bringing the excitement of soccer to fans and motorists. Bridgestone Latin America is organizing local amateur tournaments and competitions based on game forecasts, and also promoting talent among fans through its “BS Reporter" contest. In addition, leveraging the digitally engaged fan, Bridgestone has developed dynamic activities in social networks, providing opportunities to receive free tickets for games, including the final match. During 2014, Bridgestone will continue with different contests and activities to celebrate its passion for soccer in all participating countries.

Within the framework of soccer and aligned with its commitment to corporate citizenship, Bridgestone subsidiaries in Latin America have also planned several donations for  communities and institutions, in addition to the development of soccer schools for children.

In December 2012, Bridgestone and CONMEBOL announced a five-year sponsorship agreement and will be the title sponsor of the championship until 2017. For more information about Copa Bridgestone Libertadores and other local and international tournaments please visit:
