New Bridgestone GREATEC® R125A Wide Base Trailer Radial Offers Longer Tread Wear and More Payload
Bridgestone Commercial Solutions (BACS), a division of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, today announced the introduction of the GREATEC® R125A wide base trailer radial, the newest addition to its GREATEC over the road wide base tire lineup.
The tire’s advanced technological design provides more payload, longer tire wear and reduces costs per mile. The GREATEC R125A is equipped with an exclusive belt system to maintain casing shape. The wide top belt is optimized for better irregular wear resistance and the Waved Belt™ design holds the tread flat against the road for long, even wear and excellent handling.
The GREATEC R125A uses several innovations that fight irregular wear and promote long, even tread life, including Bridgestone’s Equalizer Rib™ structure and Defense Groove™ design. Both sidewalls have protector ribs to fight curbing, cuts and impacts. The R125A also features a mineral-additive innerliner to help minimize air loss and combat oxidation of the steel cords.
“The R125A is the next generation GREATEC trailer tire for fleets that want increased revenue producing payload, long wear and lower cost per mile,” said Bert Jones, Manager, Product Marketing, TBR, Retread and OTR, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions.
Other features of the GREATEC R125A include:
- Stone rejector platforms which enhance retreadabilty by helping keep rocks from embedding in the tread and damaging the casing.
- Thirsty cross-rib sipes which improve traction on wet roads.
- Stress–relief sipes that absorb rib edge stresses and increase mileage.
- •Exclusive T.I.P.™ (Turn-In Ply) design helps reduce ply end stress and enhance durability
The GREATEC R125A comes in size 445/50R22.5 (L) and will be available Aug. 25, 2011. The R125A, along with the new Bridgestone M799 mixed service radial and the new Bridgestone M770 drive tire, will be on display beginning Aug. 25, 2011, at the Bridgestone booth #16081 at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.
