BSRO Area Manager joins panel of judges for 2019 Middle Tennessee BGCA Youth of the Year
Since 2015, Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) to work together to make a tremendous impact on our communities and improve the lives of those around us. Recently, BSRO Area Manager, Rey Guerra, was nominated to be a judge and help select the 2019 Middle Tennessee Youth of the Year, BGCA's signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in our communities. Growing up, Rey was a former Boys & Girls Club kid in San Antonio, Texas, and BGCA holds a special place in his heart.
This year's Youth of the Year Luncheon took place on Tuesday, March 26, at the Youth Opportunity Center where 16 boys and girls from across Middle Tennessee took the stage to share their personal stories. The club members shared the various ways BGCA has shaped their life – from providing food and clothing when in need to forming lifelong friendships and irreplaceable mentors.
"It was so moving to hear these kids speak about the impact that their local Clubs have on their lives," said Rey. "Boys & Girls Clubs of America not only changes lives but provides mentors to so many kids. I am fortunate to work for a company like Bridgestone who understands the transformative effect of BGCA. I'm grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community, and to stay connected to an organization that played such a tremendous impact on my life."
Boys & Girls Clubs provide programming during critical out-of-school hours with a focus on academic success, good character and healthy lifestyles. BRSO's commitment to BGCA aligns with the People Priority Area of Our Way to Serve, where we employ our strengths to support our communities and enhance the way people live, learn and work.
