BPROUD, LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, holds official launch event
BPROUD, Bridgestone's newest Employee Resource Group (ERG) for LGBTQ+ employees and Allies, hosted its official Launch event, How to be an Ally, at the BOC and at Bridgestone Tower.
Attendees heard from BPROUD's Executive Sponsors Jeff Lack, Vice President of Marketing, US and Canada and Louise Brock, General Counsel, Labor & Employment, as well as Project Sponsors, Deb Hamlin, EHSS Director and Julie Sebree, Director of Original Equipment Tire Sales, about their support of the group, and its importance at Bridgestone.
"It was great seeing the hard work of the team pay off with such a great kickoff event for BPROUD," said Jeff. "The BPROUD sponsors and board would like to extend our thanks to all of the employees who attended our launch events and will continue to help in the success of BPROUD."
Bridgestone Americas CEO Gordon Knapp also spoke at the launch event noting that BPROUD is the fifth official ERG. He acknowledged his support for all the ERGs as critical to working toward our Transformation Journey goals of greater Empowered Accountability and Engagement Diversity at Bridgestone.
After the presentation about the origin of the group, and personal stories from the BPROUD board, guest speakers Officer Nakia Reid, Metro Police, Davidson County, and Paramedic Matt Fuson from the Nashville Fire Department, spoke to the group on the importance of being an ally, and how to support diversity and inclusion both in the workplace and in Nashville.
"During all the presentations, I could feel the positive energy and support from the entire room," said Louise. "It was a great way to start BPROUD's journey and to further strengthen Bridgestone's Engagement and Diversity journey."
