Bridgestone, the world’s number one tyre and rubber company, started the Ressignificar educational project on June 4, focusing on environment and sustainability. The initiative, which runs until July 6, is carried out in partnership with NTICS Projetos and includes public schools in Santo André (SP), Campinas (SP), São Pedro (SP), Camaçari (BA) and Mafra (SC), reaching over 1,500 students.
The proposal of Ressignificar is part of the global commitment to social responsibility of Bridgestone, "Our Way to Serve", which relies on three priority areas: people, mobility and environment. "This project is another way to reinforce our commitment to the communities in which we operate", said Fabio Fossen, president of Bridgestone Brazil. "Helping to build safer and healthier communities, and making education more accessible and inclusive is a commitment we have," Fossen says.
Each school included in the Ressignificar project will receive a recreation area called "Activities and Skills", developed with unserviceable tires. Teachers and students from the schools participating in the project will receive didactic material and will attend workshops on environment and sustainability, being encouraged to work on this topic in an interdisciplinary way in the classroom throughout the year.
"We propose a circuit of activities that promote the reflection and sensitization of participants in the context of their local realities, seeking to influence people and children to take the role of citizens focused on sustainability." says Ana Carolina Xavier, project director of NTICS Projetos.
Complementing the initiative actions, volunteers will be trained in each of the schools to be the maintainers of the "Activities and Skills" space.
