Bridgestone Mexico, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Foundation, announced the kick off of the reconstruction of housing to support the affected families in the State of Morelos, after the earthquakes registered on September 19, 2017.

As part of its commitment to social responsibility, “Our Way to Serve,” and with the aim of contributing to solving the problems of the communities where we operate, Bridgestone Mexico made a donation of more than $160,000 to benefit families of the municipality of Tlaquiltenango, one of the most affected in the state.

“At Bridgestone we are committed to making the communities where we operate the best places to work, live and play; therefore, after a process of analysis and evaluation of both the geographical location and the specific needs of the entity, we have structured together with Habitat for Humanity Foundation, an action plan to support families in the state, which is now in its implementation stage,” said Alfonso Zendejas, President of Bridgestone Latin America North Region (BS-LAN).

As part of Bridgestone's efforts, a group of 30 volunteers made up of employees and relatives, participated in a volunteer day on June 2 to support the construction progress of two specific houses, while learning some of the basic processes of preparation and construction of houses as the collation, foundation or stuck block to lift the walls."Working in partnership with Bridgestone has allowed us to continue with our work of promoting the recognition of housing as a fundamental human right and giving access to a better quality of life for low-income families in Morelos who lost all their assets," said Gustavo Gutierrez-Lee, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Mexico.

The housing reconstruction project is expected to be completed by the end of June, benefiting around 56 members of the 16 families directly, as well as more than 200 people indirectly due to the collaborative work scheme in which they participate.

Its mission to Serve the Society with Superior Quality has led the company to be recognized in the environmental and social field through responsible practices that contribute to create a better place for the citizens of Morelos.
