Bridgestone Akron employees had another successful year helping the students of Summit County prepare for a great school year through the United Way Stuff the Bus Program. This year, Bridgestone was paired with McEbright Community Learning Center, a local elementary school that the company has supported for 13 years.

Employees provided all the supplies for the school's 270 students. This year, employees collected 2,700 pencils, 2,700 pens, 540 erasers, 270 packs of crayons, 270 packs of markers, 1,080 folders, 540 glue sticks, 270 packs of paper and 270 pencil boxes.

Bridgestone also participates in the annual United Way Stuff the Backpack event. This year, the volunteers at the event broke the record by stuffing 4,600 backpacks in three hours. This number includes enough supplies to cover all of Summit County.

Our employees' dedication to these programs demonstrates the Bridgestone corporate social responsibility commitment, Our Way to Serve, which reflects how Bridgestone and its employees employ innovation and technology to improve the way people move, live, work and play. Our Way to Serve provides a framework for how Bridgestone does business, develops products and interacts with customers and the communities it serves.
