Bridgestone tire building system named Tire Manufacturing Innovation of the Year

​​Bridgestone's tire building system EXAMATION was voted the Tire Manufacturing Innovation of the Year by an independent jury of 27 top tire industry experts at the 2017 Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence.

The judges applauded Bridgestone's achievement in the use of Artificial Intelligence in a tire manufacturing plant. The first application in 2016 at the Hikone plant in Japan proved successful and will be implemented in the Tatabanya plant in Hungary and the new plant in Russia.

"The use of artificial intelligence and sophisticated data analysis will be important trends across many manufacturing industries in the next decade," said Graham Heeps, chairman of the judging panel and editor of Tire Technology International magazine. "Bridgestone's innovative EXAMATION system is proof that the tire industry is at the cutting edge of production technology."

Emilio Tiberio, Vice President Research & Development, ‎Bridgestone EMEA, received the award on behalf of Bridgestone Corporation at the Tire Technology Expo in Hanover, Germany.

This is the sixth time Bridgestone has won a Tire Technology award since the program was introduced in 2008.

  • 2013: Award for ologic reduced-resistance technology; Environment Achievement of the Year
