Bridgestone talks winter tires

Winter Arrives: A History of Snow Plows, Winter Tires, and More

While at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan, last month, President of Consumer Tire Original Equipment (OE) Mike Martini was interviewed by several leading automotive journalists. Among these interviewers was Jim Motavalli, who writes for CarTalk.com and other top national publications. The home of legendary Click and Clack, CarTalk is an award-winning radio talk show that broadcasts weekly on NPR stations and beyond. Jim interviewed Mike for an article for the show's widely read website, which receives more than 680,000 unique visitors each month.

The two discussed the importance of winter tires – information that proved helpful when Jim was hit by the recent snow storms in the Northeast. Their interview resulted in a blog post on the history of winter tires and snow plows. In the recap of winter tires' history, Jim recalls Mike's remarks on American drivers assuming all-season tires work just as well in winter weather. He also features results from a Bridgestone winter tire survey, sharing stats about the number of Americans who equip their vehicles with winter tires.
