Bridgestone Bandag Abilene receives the Keep Abilene Beautiful recycling award

Each year, Keep Abilene Beautiful presents awards to local businesses, non-profits, civic groups, etc. in the areas of Sustainability, Beautification and Recycling. This year, the Bridgestone Bandag plant in Abilene, Texas, was recognized as the 2015 Recycling Award recipient. 

Brent McClellan, Environmental Coordinator, and Jeremy Gray, Plant Manager, attended the Go Green Abilene awards ceremony on March 17, where Bridgestone Bandag was recognized for its recycling accomplishments and presented with a carved-stone award. It was a great opportunity to share Bridgestone Bandag’s commitment to the environment and the community with the citizens of Abilene.

In 2015, the Bridgestone Bandag Abilene Plant exceeded its recycling rate goal of 91 percent by reaching a rate of 92.6 percent. The plant recycled a total of 1,982.3 tons of material – an increase from 2013 (1,667.2 tons) and 2014 (1,794.0 tons).
